Dr. Stacy Sanders Shaup is a Florida Licensed Psychologist who joined the OCD Resource Center of Florida in February, 2006.
Dr. Shaup earned her B.S. in 1994 and graduated Summa Cum Laude, with Honors in Psychology, from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2003. During her education at NSU, Dr. Shaup completed clinical practicums at the Anxiety Treatment Center and the Brief Psychotherapy Program of NSU's Community Mental Health Center. She also completed research practicums at the Anxiety Treatment Center and served as a guest reviewer for the Journal of Anxiety Disorders. From 1999-2000, she completed a year-long pre-doctoral internship for the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in Charleston, West Virginia.
From 2004-2005, Dr. Shaup completed a year-long postdoctoral fellowship at the Anxiety Disorders Center of Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute (SLBMI) in Saint Louis, MO. At SLBMI, she received further specialized training in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of OCD and related anxiety disorders. She provided cognitive-behavioral outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization treatment to child, adolescent, and adult patients suffering from a variety of anxiety and OCD spectrum disorders.
Dr. Shaup is currently a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the American Psychological Association, the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation, the Trichotillomania Learning Center, and the Florida Psychological Association. Her primary interest is the cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, agoraphobia, social phobia, specific phobias, OCD, perfectionism, trichotillomania, skin picking, separation anxiety disorder, and body dysmorphic disorder. Dr. Shaup works with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages.
